この大空に、翼をひろげて – Impressions (and misc)

No summaries for Oorzora or any visual novel like it, there’s little of interest to talk about in general besides fawning over the characters so even bothering to summarize it seems like a waste of time. It also helps that I don’t have much spare strength since typing the summary for Supipara was admittedly fairly tiresome. Just enjoy the beautiful women (and lolis) and that’s about it.

Well what to say, a pretty comfortable story. Reminds me of Suiheisen in story, complete with even teaching us the physics behind airplanes. Though I’ll admit here that I didn’t really find Suiheisen all that great, sort of lost motivation to play half way through, though I did finish it anyway.

I feel that the setting for it is pretty interestingly made if compared to the average game in the same genre, for one, despite the protagonist, Aoi living in the girls dormitory they surprisingly didn’t decide to stuff all of the heroines in there. At least from what I feel, 3/5 of the women in the dormitory seem to fall into the category of generic female student A, B and C. For another, they acknowledge that it’s possible to have male childhood friends. Note that when I said interesting I mean that they managed to dodge many of the cliches that we grew to love and hate. This makes the story a fairly refreshing change of pace.

The production quality is also a notch above the norm, though not quite on the level of Supipara and Monobeno if you ask me.

The characters are likable, you have a somewhat generic goal to the story of flying on a paper plane but it’s fine, the production quality is good and the BGM is especially good. There’s no real problem… but… but…

I don’t feel like reading yet another story like this.

On the other hand upon actually reading the story, I felt just fine with reading it, probably because of how if we set aside the part that I don’t quite feel like it, it’s a good story. But anyway as a result I’m fairly conflicted on what to do. In addition Reitaisai is coming up tomorrow or so, from what I’ve seen there are some pretty nice games/music being released. Looking forward quite a bit to the expansions for both of the 苺坊主 games, particularly for 東方幻想魔録 which I will most definitely be playing. There are some other games of interest but I’ll have to try it before saying much about them.

For that reason, I have a feeling this game is going to get thrown aside at one point or the other in order to go through Reitaisai releases, or let me correct, I probably will throw it out in order to go through Reitaisai releases. But well we’ll see what I decide to do in the end. Following that point, this month really is empty though… I can only come up with two games to play, wonder what I’ll do for the rest of the time next month. Well whatever I’ll probably come up with something or spend the month doing something else.

Though there’s no summaries, have some screen caps I bothered taking while going through the game.

Aoi and Kotori

Kotori chasing a duck, Hat which lives in the dorms

One of Aoi’s childhood friends, Ageha.

Kotori being used as a convenient luggage carrier.

Feels a little lacking but it can’t be helped I guess.
