Despite the cover, it actually started off as a pretty entertaining story. The protagonist, Sakura is cool and there was an actual goal in the story. Namely to revive the cake shop Aurora that is on the verge of going bankrupt after Sakura’s teacher in patisseries died to a sickness while he was out of country working. In the end he was too busy to even attend her funeral and all so in a sense it’s a way of paying back for what she did for him.
That is, at the start.
Sakura may be missing a few screws in his head but he’s still a very talented patissier. Invited back to Japan by his junior, Rui from back in school. He started working at the cake shop Aurora (with no pay at that).
There’s Itsuka, the daughter of the owner (and teacher of Sakura) of Aurora. Yet despite being the daughter she was taught little to nothing about cakes and barely ate any of the cakes her mother made either. She revived the shop on a whim and didn’t think of what to do after, hence the state of the store.
Maina and Youko, twins that Sakura ran into one day when shopping for ingredients and eventually they found their way to Aurora where they asked him to teach them how to make cakes. Unless you specifically enter their routes their appearances are zero in the common route which is fairly strange.
Once we get past the character introductions and a brief common route of Sakura’s antics, which I’ll say again, were entertaining as you don’t get to see protagonists like him much…
The game went back to its nature of being, well, a nukige. Throwing out everything of interest we go into the standard fare of lots of ero as to be expected from a nukige.
Eh well, it was fun while the common route lasted I guess. Feels like it would’ve been better if it weren’t aiming for a nukige but I suppose on the other hand the production quality wasn’t so high either when looking at the backgrounds.
So in summary we went through a very tame (for a nukige) common route, full of comedic antics of Sakura and then once we chose the heroine, it gave up most of the charm to fit in ero after ero to make up for the time lost from the common route and then end. As it’s mostly ero once route starts, there’s little to talk about and comedy more or less died. I guess it’s probably to be expected but well, I just feel like I wanted to see how the story would play out if it weren’t a nukige.
Off to the next game which is also the last game I have scheduled… doesn’t quite seem like it’ll last until the end of the month so I guess I’ll have to look for more or finally chip off at the backlog of unrelated games.
