This time I took my time reading since there’s not much releases to look forward to and there’s time to kill until releases to begin with so yeah.
In reality if I had decided to spend an entire day playing this, it’s likely possible finish it in one day after common route…
For time being the only thing I can genuinely praise are the SD scenes. But of course, it’s not as if my impressions of the story was wildly off what came out of it. In reality the characters were likable from start to end, the setting was also interesting enough, though the part about finding modern technology as well as magical technology from searching ruins felt somewhat questionable since it allowed them just dive into a dungeon whenever they needed a plot device to solve their problems. The story was also average but by no means terrible, there’s just one part which stood out like a sore thumb to me.
The story for all routes really came off as more like an outline of what happened. It’s not bad to the point of feeling like you’re just reading a summary of the events but I frankly felt little to no build up towards the solution of problems.
Every single route felt like they showed up with a problem. The promptly solve it soon after and move to the next problem. How should I say this… somehow it felt like the process in between was lacking. It really came off as only writing the bare minimum to get the point through and then moving on. First they show the problem, next they explain the details of the problem as well as how the protagonist and heroine is struggling against the problem, then finally they come up with a solution and solve it. Sometimes simply omitting whatever happened in between and going straight to the result.
Unsurprisingly that also allowed me to basically finish routes in… less than two hours or so when roughly looking at the time from start to end. It was simply lacking in details which left much to be desired. Well if we set aside the details of the story however, it was a decent VN. Or more bluntly, it was your average charage, yes. Depending on how you view the standard charage, you can probably call it above average even.
Though thanks to the part of how all the way until the true(?) route it felt like the protagonist got pushed to the sidelines as a support role as the heroine shined in their respective routes, I’m in the mood for reading a story with a proactive protagonist. Not quite sure what I should be going for to find one however so… all I can do is wait and see it seems.
I’ll be killing time with finishing up Youhei and watching anime or something until releases come out, I frankly have no idea what I’ll pick up next, will probably depend on my whims so let’s see how things play out. Also bonus SD scenes just because.
