I want to believe that it isn’t my fault for hitting a bad end seeing as this game seems relatively picky with choices.
Our protagonist Shuuji lives poorly with his debt ridden father who borrowed money from the wrong people. His mother passed away early on and essentially they were pushed to a corner by debt collectors. Upon reaching the decision to try and escape and start anew, a butler kicked down the door and came flying in. Following after the butler was a fancily dressed old man.
The old man reveals himself to be Shuuji’s grandfather, it turns out that Shuuji’s mother was from a rich family and Shuuji’s father eloped with her. It would be a romantic story until it’s pointed out that Shuuji’s mother died of overworking, probably in relation to their financial affairs, at that point it’s more a bitter story but anyway…
Through investigations he roughly knows about the circumstances around them and thus makes an offer.
In return for clearing their debt, Shuuji must become his heir to the Ootori family. Though surprised by the sudden turn of events, Shuuji decides to accept the offer and soon enough Shuuji was standing before a large mansion which would be his new home.
Entering the mansion he meets his cousin Maria who is supposed to marry him as he succeeds the family. Maria herself can’t accept the fact that someone who didn’t receive proper education would succeed the home all of the sudden and made complaints about it. In the end they settled on giving Shuuji one year to find a bride in the new prestigious school he will be attending.
One year later he still could not find a bride, disappointing his grandfather he was kicked out of the house.
Is it just me or do I hit wrong routes and bad ends strangely often. Stories that make you do somewhat more complicated choices and choices made to troll you like Muramasa aside, I wonder where did I go wrong in my decisions…
While this story is completely setting itself up to be very brief so I don’t expect it to keep me busy for long, it’s a generally pleasant read with a story that got a few chuckles out of me as it went along. Characters are also pretty likable so all is well with the world.
Sure is unfortunate how some of the nicer stories tend to be the briefer ones but for time being thoughts like that can wait until I finish it.
On a different note, lately I’ve come to realize that I seem to like SD scenes in general. This story in particular was pretty abundant in that area which added to the enjoyment.
