A pretty nice story, though there’s not actually much to talk about. I think I made a mistake in route order after all… I probably should’ve went Mashiro > Shino > Renka, I feel that Renka’s route was probably a setup for the final ones.
Unfortunately there wasn’t any AI popping out and trying to kill the heroine as with Renka route. By this point I guess the AI that always wanders around the school is more or less clear in suspicion, it’s simply an AI that’s there to protect Ayato, admittedly sometimes through extreme means as this time around it went as far as framing one of his childhood friends in order to prevent him from making some dangerous moves.
On the other hand I believe this route teaches us a valuable lesson.
Ahem, by the looks of it they really are stressing out the whole fact that Ayato is only a civilian and there is a limit to how much he can interfere with military affairs. To some level you can say it’s pretty realistic and good. Though calling a story with mechas and highly developed AIs as realistic is somewhat questionable in its own right but yeah, it doesn’t look like they’re going to pull anything like Ayato awakening to secret powers or him ending up piloting a mecha and saving the day. I’m pretty fine with this though.
On the other hand, I found things a little… questionable how in the end, Ayato ended up having to wait for Mashiro to return from the army without any contact for years during the epilogue. I said this before in the impressions but there’s just something that feels strange since the stereotype of the army is that it’s full of men and in reality, it pretty much is full of men. Yet here we have a story with complete focus on women in the army and in this case the party that’s waiting for their beloved to come back is the man. Sure it happens but I can’t help but feel a sense of incompatibility. Well it’s not really their fault for that though, anyway.
From whats been revealed so far we can probably judge that the “experiments” all involve the girls piloting a mecha. In Renka’s case she seems to use a heavy armored artillery and in Mashiro’s case she uses an agil mecha with stealth capabilities or so. Unfortunately in order to pilot these things they apparently do drink some medicine and whatnot, well I doubt it’s very healthy but eh. The AI wandering around the school can be dropped from the mysteries to wander about and I guess our dear teacher doesn’t quite have a human body at this point. There has been various hints regarding the military having advanced medical technology and the ability to enhance the human body.
What happened to Sayaka has yet to be completely clarified but in any case, the picture is gradually coming to view. Next up is Shino’s route but… I really don’t like her character… ah well, everything for the sake of story…
