向日葵の教会と長い夏休み – Impressions

I’ve already been lightly spoiled about some part of things but in any case, the story gives off a calm atmosphere… sort of.

A certain someone

A certain someone

Though I say calm, there are a few dramatic moments and I don’t know why the story seems to be dropping some fantasy hints as if a certain someone is going to turn out to be a cat girl or something.

I see that it’s already said by some other reviews of it but it’s pretty blatant that Yomi and Hina are the main heroines that have the most relevance in the story. With that said, about Hina…

Not heroine material, it's daughter material

That is… uh… are they pulling another Monobeno here? Though in the opening and transition screen Hina appears as an adult but at the point of which she’s introduced and the entirety of the common route she’s completely just an innocent child. Not… quite sure what’s going to happen from here but eh, I suppose it’s more interesting this way.

As a matter of fact, after going through the common route I still have no idea what the hell is going to happen from now in general. It was pretty much spent on reunionfriendship and melancholy as it shows how the protagonist Yousuke’s home town is gradually disappearing through the passage of time.

Because of moments like that, it’s strangely difficult to just light-heartedly enjoy it. Regardless, the calm atmosphere still makes it easy to settle down and read. So calm that I had to take a 10 minute break in between to wipe off my drowsiness. Mind you, that’s not complaining.

Needless to say, first off is Yomi’s route which will hopefully shed some truth on things, after that Hina’s route should be unlocked so I’ll go there and… I’ll drop the rest of the routes.

In other news, (so far) Hataraku Maou is clearly the AOTS and other anime haven’t been particularly impressive. Then again some of the big names haven’t aired or rather I haven’t watched them yet so the actual result can’t be said yet.

I’m also slightly worried that Maou will lose steam mid-way because of how great the first episode is so well, we’ll see. It’s always nice when there are surprise hits in a season unlike March in terms of eroge where there wasn’t a single one that surpassed expectations. Sigh.

Ah right, did I mention that this thing has some pretty awesome side characters?

It has a sharp tongued maid as well!
