月あかりランチ – Impressions

Great setting and great heroines! But I’m not very confident in the story still.

Well as said, the setting is pretty interesting with the protagonist Haruhiko waking up in a school house with a gun pointed at him by a beautiful but emotionless girl.

He somehow manages to wriggle himself out of being treated as a dangerous person only to find that he’s in an entirely different world and that it’s impossible to leave the school house or access certain portions of it. It’s shown to him that the destruction of the school house is impossible and daytime never comes in that world. It’s always night. To add on, all of the girls he meets in the school are fairly eccentric. Then he meets the first male that’s not him: his younger self from his school days.

From there it finally comes together that all of the people who arrived at the world are from different ages or different worlds entirely with all of the worlds being quite unique. Goes to explain why all of the girls seem to lack common sense in one way or another aside from perhaps Aki who has an entirely different issue: she has absolutely no memory at all.

Well if just being stuck in a school house with no way out and daylight that never comes wasn’t enough, there’s also a “lunch time” in the school house every day.

Unfortunately contrary to what it sounds like, they aren’t the ones doing the eating, it’s the mysterious shadowy monsters that appear and chase them around during that period. And before lunch time happens, a broadcast appears every time from an energetic girl that claims to be a witch. Through her explanations they learn a bit of things such as where they should procure food every day.

It would be interesting if she was a heroine as well ;_;

As the mystery progresses they eventually find a hidden library which contains a book which became the key to figuring out the situation they are wrapped in.

All four heroines in their respective worlds made a “wish”. The contents of the wish, not even the person in question knows. The reason for this is that before arriving in the world, they lose the memories of what they wished.

In order to leave the school, the girls must recall what they wished and accomplish the wish. Haruhiko (so far) appears to have been called as a “teacher” role in the entire thing. Essentially he’s going to try and guide them until they “graduate” from the school.

There’s still plenty of mysteries to be solved like the identity of the shadowy figures, who are the witches and what are their motives, why did Aki lose her memories and was it simply by chance that Haruhiko was called into the world?

There’s plenty to look forward to in the mystery aspect of things, if they handle it well enough it could be a pretty interesting story. Personally I’d like to see the worlds that the heroines belong to get expanded as it smells of ADVENTURE. It’s unlikely though, 90% of the time writers only do the bare minimum building which is why I love Eushully games and the likes. Not to mention that in this case, the heroine worlds aren’t too relevant as there’s no reason Haruhiko would travel to them.

On that note, I do wonder how romance would work out in this setting considering all of them are from different worlds. It’s also pretty interesting that Haruhikos younger self, normally named Haru to differ between them, appears to be taking the role as the “best friend character” in the story.

I mean, how often do you get to consult yourself from a few years ago about your worries?

In any case I can only hope it doesn’t disappoint for now as it’s otherwise looking to be pretty good.
