らぶおぶ恋愛皇帝 of LOVE! – Thoughts

As a filler of sorts before picking up Natsukumo I decided to play this. Well it certainly met up to the expectations I had of it and even surpassed it in some areas.

The story is much like… how should I say this, there’s those settings like Majikoi where it takes place in a school with all sorts of colorful characters everywhere. A fairly large cast of them at that. The setting of this story runs in the same line as that.

Every character in this story is pretty eccentric. Unfortunately though, as far as I know (because I didn’t bother going anywhere past 3 routes) only the main two heroines (Rukina and Erika) received attention in terms of routes whereas everyone else, despite appearing to be a heroine by showing up on the cover… received the subchara treatment.

Or put more plainly: I went through Suu’s route and finished it within an hour. I was disappointed. ;_;

Erika was definitely my favorite character, in part thanks to the splendid voice acting meanwhile Rukina had the best route. It was actually pretty interesting, despite being a comedy from start to end, they managed to sneak in some drama which was actually quite decently done.

I mean, when you compare it to others, it was quite good actually. Unlike most comedies it didn’t shoehorn in some dark developments and drop the comedy element entirely for that. Comedy was more or less still present during the entire thing which felt nice as it means they didn’t forget what the selling point of the story is.

The most interesting twist that happened in this story was without doubt that Rukina’s route ended up as a 3P between Rukina and Isami. I actually pondered for a moment why Isami had no route while being so prominent and some other characters that only occasionally appeared had routes. I was in for a pleasant surprise at the end of Rukina’s route alright.

If they were going to go for an ending like this they might as well had added Erika into the mix...

Overall it was a pleasant filler that also wrapped up all which I wanted to read in June releases. June was a pretty damn good month if looking at the sheer quantity of decent stories. In fact, did any of them disappoint when thinking of it?

Now to get pumped for Natsukumo. Because they already shocked their audience with Harukuru I don’t think anyone is going to be surprised by some crazy twists showing up in the story and the expectation bar is set much higher this time however I WANT TO BELIEVE! That they can surpass my expectations anyway.

Best girl, clearly.
