ガールズbeアンビシャス! – Thoughts

Here I present to you the cutest girl in the story.

And so after getting tired of reading walls of text, text and text I decided to return to eroge. Though I say that, it’s not as if there’s much to read even now so I ended up picking up this among recommendations.

Well it wasn’t bad at least.

The main focus of the story revolves around the differences between the two schools placed next to each other and the wall that separates them. On one side is the generic “commoner” school and right next to that is a prestigious school full of people from wealthy, famous families.

Although there has been no official school regulation limiting the interaction between the two schools, for a very long time there has been a feud between the two schools. People from the commoner side get looked down on and mocked for simply being there and of course, they won’t feel very good being treated like that either.

Just like that, the relationship between students of the two schools is like oil and water. It reached the point of both sides generally accepting that the two sides will never come to an understanding as a natural fact.

With this setting, our dear protagonist proceeds to inevitably fall in love with a student from the other side which generates plenty of conflict.

Well the story may sound dramatic but it’s really just a joke for the most part. The atmosphere is light hearted and everything gets magically solved to reach a happy ending.

It did a relatively decent job in bringing the surroundings alive and most of the side characters were generally fun to watch so there wasn’t really a moment that made you think “this is dull, time to ctrl to the next part” which is a plus. Also despite its relatively short length it still managed to bring things to a close without it feeling too rushed as many stories do at this length. Not that it was actually all that satisfactory but hey, at least they resolved what they needed to without skipping too many steps in between.

On the downside, besides the short length, the setting is shallow and that certain glasses character which becomes the main source of drama also feels one dimensional. In both routes I read it basically consisted of him expressing the main problem in the setting: “We exist to stand above commoners! We’re special! Nothing good comes out of interacting with them!” over and over with the heroines standing up against those words.

Then after some touching speeches and actions he reluctantly gives up, providing a window for both schools to interact and get along with, yay.

In a nutshell, it’s best not to think too deeply into the setting, yup.

Oh well it was passable in any case but it’s definitely the sort of story that I won’t even remember within a month or two.

Because there's never enough traps.

Because there’s never enough traps.

I’ll be taking a break (again) for a few days to properly wrap up the LNs I’m trying to read and after that I’ll pick up フォルテシモ エグゼス ネクステン ファーゼ which I’m not expecting much out of but… I mean, it’s not like there’s anything else to read at the moment.

Sigh, I wonder if September releases will come out soon…
